What is the process?

Student activities start their journey with Leaders League through three main phases.

The filtration process begins with the announcement of applications, followed by the collection of applicants and an online filtration stage. During this phase, each team, comprising 3-5 members, submits their ideas for assessment. The evaluation criteria include the accessibility, affordability, and applicability of each project. A judging panel, comprising various subject matter experts, reviews the submissions. Upon completion of the filtration process, an opening ceremony is held to welcome the accepted teams and ideas.

Teams compete in 4 categories: Startups, Ideas, Awareness, and Student Activities.

During the development phase, teams undergone comprehensive personal, business, and entrepreneurial development training, equipping them with essential skills for success. This included workshops on leadership, communication, and project management tailored to their specific projects. Additionally, teams engaged in an environmental awareness workshop, deepening their understanding of pressing environmental issues and exploring innovative solutions. They had the invaluable opportunity to meet with role models and experts in environmental and climate change fields, gaining insights, inspiration, and mentorship to guide their journey towards impactful change. This phase not only nurtured the teams’ growth but also fostered a strong sense of community and collaboration in their pursuit of a sustainable future.

During the Mentorship phase, we collaborated closely with startups and their ideas, focusing on practical implementation. Mentors offered valuable feedback and entrepreneurial support, helping teams tackle challenges in areas like legal matters and marketing. They provided consulting, technical assistance, legal guidance, reviewed business models, and offered marketing advice. This hands-on support empowered startups to reach wider audiences and solve problems more effectively, ensuring their success in the program.

In the end there is the final event where Teams will compete by presenting and evaluating their projects to an expert judging panel. The participants will showcase their projects where each team has its own booth bearing the team’s name, trademark, and project.

The closing ceremony will include the winner’s announcement of receiving grants, and the governmental and private partners will be giving a speech of empowerment to youth in the environmental and sustainable development fields.

But the journey doesn’t conclude with the competitions, as the startups and project owners embark on another chapter of continuous development with YLF’s Climate Leaders Program. The developmental journey aids the startups and project owners in various aspects through diverse training, workshops, and mentoring sessions held throughout the year.
